Minimal Desk Tour | Calm, Creative, & Productive Setup
Welcome to my desk tour!
I’m going take you through all the little details of my workspace that make it feel comfortable, intentional, calming, and super productive. I get a lot of good stuff done at my desk and I'm really excited to zoom into all the little details.
If you're curious to see my full home office tour, I do have an entire video on that here.
The Desk (of my dreams!) & Treadmill
Let’s start off with the big things, my desk and treadmill!
Desk - yes, this is the desk of my dreams! I wanted a really long desk, so I went with the 72 inches option. The desk is made of solid maple wood and is really stunning. I also have the matching riser and the filing cabinet drawer setup from Ergonofis!
I love the cable management with this desk. There’s a power strip built into my desk that keeps things really clean, so I don’t have a bunch of cords dangling down and when I change my desk from sitting to standing (more on that soon), nothing gets in the way.
Ergonomic chair - this chair has leather seats and allows me to comfortably lean back, which is nice when I'm trying to stretch my back. Can you tell I love ergonomic?
Treadmill - So many people ask me, is a treadmill even worth it? I can confidently say YES, it’s worth it! I use it every other day, if not every day. As my desk is rising, all I need to do is move my chair out of the way and just roll the treadmill right underneath, plug it in, turn it on and we’re good to go!
I love walking and getting so many steps in while writing emails, blog posts, scripting podcasts, etc. When I’m walking and working, I’m just so much more productive. I can walk on my treadmill for over an hour and not even realize that so much time has passed.
If you are considering a standing desk or a walking pad under the desk treadmill, I highly recommend it. It's been so good for my mental health and my physical health.
Creating An Ergonomic Setup
Since we spend so much time at our desk, an ergonomic setup is really important to me. Here’s are the best tips I’ve learned to make your workspace the most comfortable and efficient as possible:
Your monitor or screen should be right at eye level.
Your arm should be at a 90 degree angle when you're typing and sitting up straight.
Your knees should be also bent at a 90 degree angle with your feet being flat on the ground (shhh - I do still sit cross-legged all the time!).
My desk is now set at a custom height to what I need when I'm sitting, and then I also have it prefixed for my ideal height when I'm standing with my treadmill underneath. I don't typically stand with this desk unless I'm walking on my treadmill.
Watch my video to see a full demo of how I transition my desk from sitting to standing and also what it looks like rolling my treadmill under my desk.
Monitor & Tech
Now, let’s move on from the desk and talk about all things technology. I love trying new technology, but I also am very loyal to the brands that I feel have done me well in the past. My job is basically all online, so I need reliable and easy-to-use tech that makes my job easier.
Mac Studio computer - this has worked really well for me the past few years, juggling all my video editing and applications!
Samsung M8 Monitor - you may have seen my TikTok that went viral comparing the Samsung M8 monitor to Apple's Studio Display! Based off of the price and the quality, I really love the Samsung M8. It's 32 inches because I like to have a bigger screen to split my windows.
Microphone - this is a really affordable USB mic that I use for recording my voiceovers, recording my podcast and taking calls/meetings. It’s great all-around!
Mouse - the most comfortable mouse I have ever used! It’s simple and intuitive. It fits the natural shape of the way your hand naturally falls. I highly recommend!
Keyboard - I love this Logitech keyboard, the ergonomic design is comfortable on my wrists. I’m a loyal Logitech user for their products’ comfort and functionality.
Kitchen Timer - this is what I use to time my tasks using the Pomodoro technique, so I'll set a 15 minute or 25 minute timer, and then pick a task that I want to work on. It really helps keep me on track and get things done.
Desk Mat - from my friends at Cozyleigh Studios! It’s handmade, high quality, and so stunning!
Phone Charger - also from Cozyleigh Studios. Beautifully handmade & 3D printed one by one ~ it’s like a work of art on your desk!
Functional Decor
I don’t keep a ton of decor or trinkets on my desk as I like a clean space, but I do love some functional decor. It makes a space feel cozy and like your own.
Flower Coasters - I have a whole stack of these that I use throughout the house for drinks and they're so cute! I’m known to have a few beverages on my desk at a time, so these come in handy!
Muji Pens - hands down, best pens ever :)
My vase is from a local local shop in Austin called Paper and Craft Pantry. My friend Pei owns the shop and she stocks the cutest items! If you come to Austin, check it out.
Dry-erase board - I do like having this if I need to jot something down really quick.
Books are from Seoul that I’m trying to translate and read!
That’s all for my desk setup. I change things around here and there as needed, but I’ve been lovin’ this setup for a while now. It’s functional, it’s comfy and it’s the exact aesthetic I was going for. I hope you can take inspiration for your own workspace!
