Being Fearless with CORA Women

Periods. Let's talk about 'em.

We all know having your period can be annoying, painful, inconvenient, and if you live in a big city, it's a little expensive. Running out of tampons and having to stop by the store day of isn't ideal. In reality though, this is a #firstworldproblem.

Did you know that over 100 MILLION girls lack adequate menstrual products all over the world? Think about it for a second. No menstrual products. Nada. This means their entire world is put on pause for the duration of their cycles - girls are missing school, work, and life in general, because they can't hide it. In many countries, when a girl starts her period, it's considered her "week of shame". Something that is so womanly, so natural, and so out of our control is considered shameful or taboo. Imagine that.

Also, imagine using newspaper, sand, or a dirty old rag to manage your period. It's incredibly unsettling to think of. In America, we even have methods to STOP our periods if we so choose.

#FearlessPeriod

There are times I choose to just stay home and lounge around, because I'm a little moody and my period cramps are getting the best of me. But, I get to make that choice. One hundred million girls do NOT. This is why I'm excited to share with you Cora, a subscription-based organic tampon company that donates pads to girls in developing countries. In rural India, one out of four girls are forced to drop out of school because of inadequate menstrual protection. But, for girls who are given pads, the dropout rate is reduced by 90%. This is MAJOR.

For every month’s supply you purchase, Cora gives one month’s supply of sustainable pads to a girl in a developing country, so she can do anything during her period. You can feel good knowing you're making a life-changing difference for a woman on the other side of the world.

But, why organic?

It's actually CRAZY to think the average woman uses over 10,000 tampons in a lifetime! Shizzzz, that's a lot - and to think of all the ridiculous chemicals filling most mainstream tampons. We're talking hazardous chemicals like BLEACH and other plasticizing ingredients with BPA - Ingredients that are linked to cancer, infertility and other reproductive illnesses. Considering how absorbent we are down thurrr, I'd say I want no part in that. No thanks.

Also, how cute and incognito is this vegan clutch? Cora sends beautiful little accessories with their subscriptions as well. I no longer need to stuff neon sticks down my bra at work when no one is looking.
